Registering a New Vehicle
If you have recently purchased a new vehicle, by law, you must
have it registered.
Steps to Register a New Vehicle
- Obtain insurance from your insurance company. You may
have it faxed to our office (403) 252-9090. We will keep
your insurance on file for your convenience. Due to
government regulations, we will be unable to register
your vehicle without insurance documentation.
Need A Quote?
- Obtain a bill of sale or lease agreement from the seller of
the vehicle. This document proves that you own the vehicle.
Due to government regulations we must register the vehicle
under the name(s) listed on the bill of sale.
- Come to the Southland Registrations office. Our friendly staff
can assist you in registering your new vehicle. If you do not
have a license plate or wish to have a new one, our staff can
also assist you.
If you have an existing plate with registration that has not
run out yet, you may wish to transfer the plate instead.
Our friendly staff would be glad to help you and explain
the advantages according to your situation.
If two people are on the bill of sale or lease agreement and only
one person is able to be present at the time of registration;
an authorization form is available for the person(s) who are
not present to give consent to the person(s) that are present
permission to register the vehicle on their behalf.
Registrations are priced on a prorated system. Please contact our
office and provide the first few letters of your last name. Our staff will be
able to give you pricing information according to your last name
and what month we are currently in.
Please note: All outstanding fines must be paid before we can
register your new vehicle.
